Real-World Applications
Polarization Diversity Reception: Phones/walkie-talkies have random orientations during use, cannot guarantee antenna alignment with base station polarization. Modern phones use dual-polarized antennas for polarization diversity, maintaining communication even when the phone is placed horizontally or upside down.
Experiment Steps
- Co-polarization: Max power when Tx/Rx polarizations are same
- Cross-polarization: Significant attenuation when Tx/Rx are orthogonal
